LINCOLNSHIRE ARMY CADET FORCE AND THE CITY OF LINCOLN  ROYAL BRITISH LEGION AFFILIATION

Number 1 Company Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force has nine Detachments in and around the City of Lincoln. On Saturday, 29th November 2014 a parade and presentation was held at Beckingham Training Camp to affiliate all nine Detachments to the City of Lincoln Branch of the Royal British Legion.

Cadet representatives from each Detachment received an agreement of affiliation certificate and the Cadets on parade received a Royal British Legion affiliation badge.

Making the presentations were:   Lieutenant Colonel Ron Gatepain TD, Chairman Lincolnshire Committee East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association; Major Alex Carson, Chairman of the City of Lincoln Royal British Legion; and Mr Brian Marsden,  County Youth Officer for the Royal British Legion in Lincolnshire.

Major Jeremy Field MBE, Officer Commanding No 1 Company, said that the formal affiliation with the Royal British Legion would allow for the Cadets and Veterans  to share their experiences and was a great way for the Army Cadets to engage with the Royal British Legion and the local community.   A number of joint activities and presentations are planned for 2015 including a military skills competition for the Cadets as the Royal British Legion have kindly presented a cup to be awarded to the top Detachment team.

WORLD WAR ONE PRESENTATION OF LIFE IN THE TRENCHES, BY MR. MICHAEL FENNELL & MR. PAUL GRIMLEY

19 Troop Billingborough held a interest evening and opened its doors to some other cadets from Boston & Grantham Detachments
The evening was fascinating and extremely interesting, with Mr Grimley giving a presentation on WW1 soldiering and history on battles and events.
Mr Fennell then came out in full uniform from the 1st World War and gave an in depth talk about his life as a person and soldier of the war.
Cadets from all detachments then had the opportunity to view the equipment and uniform, wear the different types of head gear and weaponry of the time.
The whole presentation was very well put together and extremely interesting, A very big thank you from all whom attended should go to Mr Grimley and Mr Fennell
