CADETS AT REMEMBRANCE PARADE

Army cadets of Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force from the detachments within the county will be on parade on the 13th November to attend the Service of Remembrance in their local area.

They will form up with the Royal British Legion contingents and other service and cadet organisations to pay homage at this annual remembrance for those who have fallen in conflict.

The cadets will attend the service and lay a wreath with the Royal British Legion at their local monument.

This is one of the few occasions that the Army Cadet Force is seen on parade and one on which they are proud to represent the county organisation and display another side of the aspects of youth.

There are 32 detachments in Lincolnshire and there are vacancies in most for new recruits who would care to have more interesting and exciting times during the winter evenings and on some weekends.

Vacancies also exist for Officers and Adult Instructors, with or without service experience as the necessary training will be given.

CADETS AUTUMN TRAINING

Army cadets of Lincolnshire from the detachments of 2 Squadron and 3 Company, girls and boys, will be putting their skills to the test on a training and testing weekend at Beckingham Camp near Newark from the 14th to 16th October.

The cadets will be from the Billingborough, Boston, Bourne, Crowland, Grantham, Holbeach, Kirton, Long Sutton, Market Deeping, Skegness, Sleaford, Spalding and Stamford detachments.

The aim of the weekend is to teach the cadets the responsibilities and duties of being a Junior Non Commissioned Officer (JNCO), command and leadership skills and prepare them for possible promotion.

The Junior Cadet Instructor’s Cadre (JCIC) has two purposes. Firstly, to train the cadet in the technique of instruction, and secondly, to assess their ability as a potential instructor to train junior cadets.

As an NCO the cadet should be able to prepare a lesson plan and take a lesson in all subjects up to 1 Star and the course will allow for assessment of the cadets ability accordingly with gradings given for each subject.

On Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning they will be instructed on exercise preparation and planning and usage of map and compass for navigation and a general discussion on military tactics.

CADETS WEEKEND TRAINING

Most detachments in the county have vacancies for girls and boys, aged 12 years of age but in year 8 at school, and over, who could accept the challenge of something different than the usual youth club activities on a weekend.

There are also vacancies for Officers and Adult Instructors, with or without military service, who may have the time to train the youth of the county in a worthwhile organization.

Training weekends away from home are ongoing in the Army Cadet Force and vacancies exist in all detachments for girls and boys of 12 years of age and in year 8 at school, and older, who would like to join a youth club with a difference.
