SATURDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER


The Saturday Strollers will be walking in the area of Sutton this Saturday. It cost nothing to join in and anyone of any age is welcome. They are meeting at st guthlac’s school just before 11am to arrange transport.

Broad Street Methodist Church coffee morning and art exhibition and sales by local artists on Saturday 4 September between 10am and 1pm. Refreshments and light lunches available.

Royal British legion Donington entertainment on Saturday 4 September is Irish country music. Held at 7:30pm.

The monthly coffee and chat morning will be held at the Methodist church, Moulton on Monday 6 September between 10am and 11.30 with a short service at 11am.

The people have voted. And the winner is…

The South Holland Centre recently asked viewers of its Website & Facebook pages, and readers of its summer Film Guide to help choose the film to be screened in early September. The people voted - and the winner is KNIGHT AND DAY (12A) starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.

The Centre has therefore booked the following extra screenings of Knight and Day:

Paul and Alison Johnson will be running the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham on Sunday 12 September in memory of their Auntie Jean, who died in April. Spalding Ramblers' Group has organised two walks for September. Both are in Lincolnshire and both will be about 7 miles in length.
The first will be on Sunday 12th September at Ropsley near Grantham, starting from the High Street in the village at 10.30am. Walk leader, Rex, can be contacted on 01775 722033 for further details.
The second of the two walks will be on Sunday the 26th September. This will be a little further away from the Spalding area, starting in the pretty Lincolnshire Wolds village of Hagworthingham, in an area known as Tennyson country. Walkers will meet in the lay-by opposite JJ's cafe for the usual 10.30 start. Malcolm and Doris can give more details on 01775 767903.
New walkers are welcome to come along to join in either of these rambles. Bring a packed lunch and a drink and wear comfortable walking boots and, in view of the English weather, bring waterproof clothing.

Family History Day, Saturday 18 September, 10am – 4:30pm, St Peter’s Church Hall, Wisbech. Advice on finding your family history from experienced researchers. There will be local family history bookstalls, and a display of wartime memorabilia to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Refreshments available. There is free parking beside St Peter’s Church Hall.
Celebrate Surfleet, Saturday 18 September, 11am – 4pm, Glen Park, Surfleet. Organised by Surfleet Community Group. There will be live music, tug-of-war, tombola, barbecue, traditional games, beer tent, helicopter display, craft stalls, children’s activities, and children’s fancy dress at 2pm. Sue Ryder Care’s fundraising event Ride for Ryder, Sunday 19 September, Thorpe Hall. The Sue Ryder team are looking for more people to sign up and get on their bikes. The choice of circuits varies in length from 5, 18, 35, 55 and 83 miles for those who want to challenge themselves with a longer bike ride. For people who sign up, they shall receive a Sue Ryder Care T-shirt, goody bag, certificate and a rub down at the finish line from our trained therapists. For those who sign up before the 1 July there is an early bird offer of £10, that’s a discount of £2! Sound of South Holland heats, Thursday 23 & Thursday 30 August, Loaded nightclub. A bid to unearth the best musical talent South Holland has to offer. Final on Thursday 7 October. Donations from South Holland District Council Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, the Lincolnshire Spalding North Rural Community Beat Team and Pinchbeck Parish Council have enabled this mobile skate part to come to the village.

Our abseil event takes place on Saturday 25 September – raising funds to continue providing vital services for young cancer patients and their families. We are looking for individuals or teams to take part and aim to raise a minimum of £100 per individual.
