The event invites everyone to turn off their lights from 10pm to 11pm on August 4 - 100 years to the day that Britain declared war on Germany. Residents are asked to leave on a single light or candle for this shared moment of reflection. This will be a special moment for the people of South Holland to actively take part in this national event and remember the many people from the District who gave their lives in World War One who enabled us to have the freedom we enjoy today. Switching off lights at the South Holland Centre, a single light will be left on at the council's offices in Priory Road, Spalding.
